From season 2008/2009 all clubs with teams that play at a youth/minor level (U18 down to U7) must have an appointed Club Welfare Officer who must have attended a Club Welfare Officer Workshop (previously called the Child Protection Workshop). Those attending MUST have previously attended the Safeguarding Children [formerly called Child Protection] Training Seminar. Details of both workshops are provided below.
Berks & Bucks Football Association are running the courses at various venues around the Berks & Bucks area. However in order to attend this workshop, candidates must first have completed the Safeguarding Children Workshop.

Safeguarding Children Workshops
(previously called Child Protection Workshops) This is a 3 hour workshop aimed at Coaches, Club Members, Referees and Club Welfare Officers dealing the protection of children within clubs. It promotes best practice within a club and advises clubs and referees on how to recognise the signs of abuse and poor practice with clubs and referees, as well as offering advice to clubs and referees on how to take action should a case arise. The workshop is open to anyone aged 16 years or over.

Stand Alone Emergency Aid Courses and Safeguarding Children Workshops
BBFA offers Stand Alone Emergency Aid Courses and Safeguarding Children Workshops and to Clubs and Stand Alone Welfare Officer Workshops to Leagues who have a minimum of 10 or a maximum of 24 candidates who need to attend.
The cost of all courses is £240.00 for up to the first 12 candidates and an additional £20.00 for each candidate thereafter up to a maximum of 24 candidates.

Welfare Officer Workshops
This is a 3 hour workshop specifically aimed at Club Welfare Officers and League Welfare Officers and follows on from the Safeguarding Children Workshop. By the beginning of season 2009/2010 all affiliated clubs and leagues should have an appointed Welfare Officer who has attended both workshops. Failure to do this will result in clubs and leagues being unable to affiliate to county FA.
Pre-requisites Safeguarding Children Workshop (formerly called Child Protection Workshop). The workshop is open to Club or League Welfare Officers only.
The cost per candidate is: £20.00
